Technical Lead / Engineering Lead

About the job

We are looking for a Technical Lead (Engineering Lead) to own and drive both the reliability of our cloud infrastructure and the quality of our software engineering practices. This role bridges Site Reliability Engineering and Software Engineering leading technical direction, mentoring engineers, and ensuring we ship and operate resilient, scalable, and cost-efficient systems.

In this role, you will get to:

SRE & Infrastructure (main responsibilities of this role)

  • Own the reliability, availability, and performance of production environments across cloud infrastructure and applications
  • Lead incident response, postmortem reviews, and drive systemic improvements to prevent recurrence
  • Architect, maintain, and continuously improve infrastructure using Terraform and IaC best practices
  • Define and evolve monitoring, alerting, and observability standards across services
  • Oversee deployment pipelines and release processes, ensuring smooth and safe delivery to production
  • Identify and drive cloud cost optimization initiatives and infrastructure efficiency improvements
  • Manage user access, permissions, and security posture for internal tools and cloud platforms
  • Document and enforce operational procedures, runbooks, and incident resolution playbooks

Software Engineering

  • Design, develop, and review backend services, internal tooling, and automation frameworks
  • Lead code reviews and set engineering standards for quality, maintainability, and performance
  • Collaborate with product and project teams to translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Drive engineering best practices including testing strategies, CI/CD workflows, and deployment automation
  • Build and maintain internal platforms and tools that improve developer experience and operational efficiency

Leadership

  • Serve as the technical point of contact across engineering and cross-functional teams
  • Mentor and guide mid-level and junior engineers on both SRE and SE best practices
  • Contribute to engineering roadmap planning, technical scoping, and architectural decisions
  • Foster a culture of reliability, ownership, and continuous improvement within the team

You'll be successful if you have:

  • At least 5 years of experience in a combination of Software Engineering, DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Engineering roles, with at least 1–2 years in a technical lead or senior capacity
  • Strong hands-on experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, GCP including architecture and cost management
  • Solid experience with Kubernetes environments, especially GKE
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and/or CloudFormation
  • Experience building or maintaining backend services or internal tooling using Python or similar languages
  • Experience with GitLab and managing CI/CD pipelines end-to-end
  • Demonstrated ability to lead incident response, conduct postmortems, and implement long-term remediations
  • Experience driving engineering best practices: code reviews, testing standards, deployment automation
  • Strong ability to communicate and align technical decisions across engineering, product, and leadership teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to operate independently, prioritize across competing workstreams, and mentor others effectively
